Program Structure & Daily Routine

Our Beginner program introduces more routine and structure while maintaining the flexibility toddlers need to thrive.

Structured Learning

The daily schedule includes dedicated periods for activities that build vocabulary and functional mathematical skills, expertly delivered through intentional, play-based learning experiences.

Exploration-Focused Environment

We intentionally stock our classrooms with a ton of books and toys, ensuring the environment supports their natural wonder and curiosity.

Encouraging Independence

Children are encouraged to use simple reasoning to explain everyday occurrences, supporting their burgeoning independence.

Development Goals

Intentional Learning Through Play

Children in our Toddler program are focused on active discovery and building key skills across seven essential developmental domains.

Malvern Academy toddlers engaged in creative play with blocks, toys, and coloring materials.

Children build vocabulary through daily conversations and begin to understand and follow simple directions.

Language & Literacy

Children begin to explore number sets, experiment with shapes, sort by colors, and develop simple reasoning skills.

Mathematical Thinking

Children explore animal habitats, use scientific vocabulary, and begin to explore engineering concepts. They use tools to investigate objects and materials.

Scientific Exploration

Toddlers gain independence as they learn to verbalize their wants and needs. They begin learning about taking turns and labeling emotions in themselves and others.

Social-Emotional Learning

Children explore instruments, dance to music, and show a preference for family songs. They engage in multi-sensory art and imaginative pretend play.

Creative Expression

Children focus on using their hands and eyes together to complete fine motor skills tasks and begin to sustain balance during simple movement activities.

Wellness & Motor Skills

The concepts of social studies and diversity are introduced as children explore similarities and differences between themselves and others. They also learn basic Spanish vocabulary for colors, shapes, and greetings.
